We had a business meeting with one of our subcontracters that suppots our computer system's software in my office on Thursday September 7. The attendees of our side were a vice president of our organization and an interpreter of Ms. M, who is a half of American & Japanese, & my coworker guy and me. And visitors were the CEO & Financial director of the British parent company & Asian regional director of Japanese guy & British president & Japanese director of Japanese subsidiary company who interpreted visitor's side.
I prepared a voice recorder, since I had to write a meeting minute afterward. Actually our vice president's English is very hard to listen even if he is very proud of his English. So that's a big problem to write a minute. Because I can't make difference bitween his pronunciation of 'f' & 'wh'. Thus I asked him to speak in Japanese and make Ms. M interprete his meaning in English thoroughly.
Ms. M is famous person in this blog providing us a funny American jokes. And the last person of my coworker was just smiling during the meeting as he can't understand English at all !
Almost all of the agenda were discussed with friendly. But at the almost end of the meeting, the earthquake occured. And British guys excited. The British CEO asked Ms. M "How often does the earthquake strike ?" But she was too confused by his question to make proper answer.
